Advising
My advising has fluctuated between twelve and twenty students while teaching at Shenandoah University. I regularly meet with my students to help them with scheduling and to work out class conflicts to do what we can to help students graduate on time and have a pleasant experience as a student at SU.
Before our current Academic Planning system I spent hours working out a computer system to better help students see their progress and what they have left to complete.
With students signed consent I have also spent hours talking with concerned parents in trying to find solutions to best help their child navigate academia and the struggles of adult life.
I also provided and maintained a website forum to help students to be able to help other students find information that might help enhance their experience while at Shenandoah University with such pertinent information as what MPRT (Music Production & Recording Technology) students need to do to also obtain a performance certificate, study abroad, help with transfer courses, courses that fulfill public speaking requirements with current information as that has changed over the years, approved University Studies plans from other anonymous students etc.
Every semester we also hold a group advising session for all MPRT and Jazz Studies students with student and advisor lead training and pizza and drinks to top it off.

Office Hours
I maintain regular office hours posted outside my door as well as online where students can sign up through google calendar. I inform the students that I am happy to meet with them outside these hours if they do not fit their current schedule.
Mac Lab
I work with MPRT students and others helping book hours for the Mac Lab in Ruebush 111 for people that have lab needs. I regularly work with them on software updates, professional behavior and working with the students on follow up and follow through. We try to have as many MPRT students work in the Mac Lab as possible, which provides essential outside class and advising time to get to know the students and help them be better prepared for their internships and professional music careers.
