Teaching: Preparation/Grading Exams/Assignments
…v) Preparation/Grading Exams/Assignments
Hours on end go into preparing for classes, especially when working with computers. You never know what you are going to get and what changed on one computer from one day to the next. There is sometimes a lot of set-up involved in getting ready for some classes making sure that all the computers and syncing together and things are running properly.
While it is helpful to be able to help our students work through technical difficulties on computers it is generally not a productive use of class time so much time is spent with software, firmware and hardware updates. Checking that everything is still working and functioning properly. There are many intricate parts in what we do and new features are constantly on the rise. As spoke of elsewhere in this ePortfolio a lot of time is spent learning new software releases and techniques making sure the content we are delivering to our students is fresh and current, providing our students with the most pertinent information possible.
My exams are a mix of hands on proficiencies where students demonstrate tasks on consoles and other hardware, written and online and software based skills. Assignments range from papers, research on microphones, recording, music writing and software editing and composing to picture to name a few.
